NiteLIGHT Series | Battle Cry
November will be spent in our new series looking at the book of Joshua.
Week 1: Joshua Chosen as Leader
The song invites each of us to consider how God may be calling us in our lives. Students will look at the story of God’s call of the Prophet Jeremiah from Jeremiah 1:4-10 as they consider what God might be practically calling them to today. One of Jeremiah’s objections to God’s call was that he was “too young,” but God didn’t care. God chose to use someone young to do His work, and God is choosing the students to do the same thing today.
Week 2: The Battle
This Beachpoint original reminds the students that even in our darkest days, God is there with us through it all. The lyrics are inspired by Psalm 139 where the Psalmist praises God for knowing him and being present with him even in the darkness, but the Psalmist also expresses his real frustration with God towards the end of the Psalm. If God knows him so well and God is always with him, why does God let him suffer? Students will be invited to think about the ways they might feel the same way as the Psalmist did.
Week 3: Covenant Renewed
This VBS song declares the truth that God goes beyond even the wildest creations of our imagination. Ephesians 3:20 says, “20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” Our students will be invited to think about how God is at work doing more than we could ever conceive of and yet still chooses to work within each of us.
Week 4: NO NiteLIGHT, November 27 (Thanksgiving Break)

New Series | Music Notes
October will be spent in our new series looking at three Beachpoint original worship songs and how they connect with scripture. The goal of the series is to invite our students to think more deeply about the words we sing during worship and how these words can express our real prayers to God.
Week 1: I Hear You Calling

Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Our students will be encouraged to invite their eight-to-fifteen to an awesome night of laser tag, glow dodgeball, dancing, burgers, cotton candy, popcorn and more—but most importantly, they will all be invited to consider how Jesus came to be a light in this world—a light that pierces through all the darkness we might see or experience around us.

These questions are designed to open up a conversation between you and your kids about the topics addressed each week at The Rock. Discipleship starts in the home, so some of the questions will help start a conversation that we will continue on Tuesday night, some of the questions you can ask as a follow up to Tuesday night, and some of the questions you can ask whenever throughout the week to help your kids think about the people in their eight-to-fifteen and how they might be able to impact them.
Conversation Starter: I know it’s been a little while since I’ve been in high school, so I was just wondering if you or your friends ever feel frustrated that God is good, but bad stuff still happens to you guys?
Remember you don’t have to answer your own question. Be a safe place for them to share their thoughts and ideas.e
Eight-To-Fifteen: Do you think your non-church friends care about this challenge? Like, do they care that you say God is good but they have difficult stuff still in their lives?
Ask on Wednesday:
- What do you think it means to be honest with God when you pray? What does that actually look like?
- Have you ever felt an emotion or feeling you wanted to tell God about but chose not to for whatever reason? Why do you think you chose not to?
- Is there someone you feel like it’s easier to be honest with besides God? Why do you think it feels easier to be honest with that person?
It can be helpful to share your own answers not to lecture your kids, but to relate to them and their answers. If the conversation becomes you talking at them, try asking another question.
Remember that not every conversation is going to feel like a huge success. There are going to be plenty of times that you might feel like the conversation went no where and that’s okay! Keep trying. Remind your kids that you are interested in their lives and want to play a role in their discipleship. The good conversations will happen eventually!
